So many old pleasures!
\nHave we lost the capacity or the whim
\nto be a little wild and sensuous
\nto wander out along unknown roads
\nwithout a map?<\/p>\n

Are we really that old?
\nToo old to leave
\nthe electronic tentacles of our
\ncable cellphone internet broadband walkman
\ninfested nest?<\/p>\n

If we broke out of our habitual lives
\ncreated a new life together
\nin this seventy-seventh year of our lives
\nwhat would we lose?
\nWhat would we risk?<\/p>\n

Our fortune is certainly safe
\ninvested in memories and mementos
\nin images and feelings
\nscattered across our fifty five\u00a0 years together
\nand apart.<\/p>\n

Today we are one day closer to death.
\nIsn\u2019t that occasion
\nfor joyful improvisation
\nopening our eyes
\nfull of one another
\nsurrendering the sad old projection of
\nMaybe I\u2019m doing it wrong.
\n<\/i>
\nCome into the garden
\nlet the morning air chill our skins
\nthen warm ourselves
\nflesh upon flesh
\nin the cave of our bed.<\/p>\n
